Confusion As Tribunal Nullifies Election In 18 Akwa Ibom LGAs, Leaves Governor In Office

Confusion has trailed the judgement of the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Tribunal on Wednesday, following the nullification of election in 18 local government areas of the state without unseating the governor.
The tribunal had Wednesday ruled on the petition by the All Progressives Congress, and its candidate, Umana Umana, challenging the election of Mr. Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The judgement was however unclear as it was not categorical on whether Governor Udom Emmanuel should leave office.
In the ruling, the tribunal held that election was not properly conducted in 18 of 31 local government areas of the state.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Sadiq Umar, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct re-run election in the affected 18 local government areas.

Panics In Civil Service As Oyo-Ita Becomes Acting HOS

After the removal of former Head of Service, Mr Danladi Kifasi, who is due for retirement on January 1, 2016 and the announcement of Ekanem Oyo-Ita as new the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, anxiety and apprehension appear to trail the appointment.

The cause of the apprehension according to findings includes the fear of abrupt retirement or sack to senior workers in the civil service. The fear stemmed from the fact that the 51 year old acting Head of Service is junior to a number of them in hierarchy. Should Oyo-Ita become substantive Head of Service, those who are senior to her would have no other choice but to resign or be compulsorily retired.

Faeces Take Over Premises Of Lagos General Hospital

Human wastes have taken over the premises of the Gbagada General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos State.
A large number of people at the facility told PUNCH Metro that the development posed health risks to residents of the area, patients and visitors.
During a two-week observation by PUNCH Metro, it was discovered that pregnant women, patients and visitors to the hospital ease themselves on the premises of the hospital.
Some of the patients and visitors, who spoke with our correspondent, blamed the situation on the hospital management’s failure to provide toilets.
They lamented that if nothing was done to address the challenge on time, an epidemic could break out.
A visitor, Mrs. Tolulope Adeniyi, said she came to the hospital to look after a sick relative who was on admission in the hospital.
She said she had been going to a bush close to the Combined Clinics and Ward to ease herself since arriving at the hospital.
She said, “I have been here for more than three days now. Each time I have to defecate, I go to the bush to do that. Initially, I was reluctant to do it, but I don’t have any other option.
“Sometimes, I stepped on the faeces of other people and the smell in that place is horrible. But what I do is to drop my own, and cover it up with tissue paper before leaving.”

Trouble In Aso Rock As APC Women Leader, Sharon Ikeazor Tackles Aisha Buhari

An Avoidable crisis is currently brewing in Aso Rock, the nation’s seat of power, and the source of the palaver is the political scheming and ambition of the Women Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Sharon Ikeazor which is likely to undermine the status of the Wife of the president, Hajia Aisha Buhari.
According to information gathered by yemojanewsng.com, Sharon Ikeazor has taken advantage of president Muhammad Buhari not to have a role for his wife, Hajia Aisha Buhari in this current dispensation.
We learnt Ikeazor, a skilled lawyer and management consultant  has been able to penetrate President Buhari’s power circle to allow her perform most of the roles reserved for the wife of the president. This, we were told is not going down well with some friend of the wife of the president.
