Monaco Denies Mourinho £35m Chelsea Offer As ‘Extravagant Rumours’

Monaco have denied claims that Chelsea rejected a €50 million (£35m) bid from the Ligue 1 club for Jose Mourinho, calling on the media to ignore the “extravagant and unsubstantiated rumours” of shareholder Alessandro Proto.
Monaco minority shareholder Proto said in a statement from his company Proto Enterprises to Spanish news agency EFE on Tuesday that he met Roman Abramovich in London to try to tempt the Chelsea owner into letting Mourinho go, with the Premier League champions 15th after 11 games.
Proto says that Abramovich rejected the offer from Monaco’s owner Dmitry Rybolovlev despite Mourinho’s Stamford Bridge future being in doubt, but that the Chelsea owner would reportedly consider a €100m (£71m) fee.

Despite having lost over 60% of games played this season,Jose Mourinho is still a target for the French principality club, but Abramovich has reportedly rejected a mammoth bid for his coach’s services and wants Mourinho to stay on for a while despite the poor run.
The Ligue 1 side, largely bankrolled by businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev, offered to buy out the remainder of Mourinho’s contract. However, Blues owner Abramovich has offered him support and has told Monaco’s middlemen he won’t sell Mourinho for that price, although it is believed Mourinho could be got if the fee is doubled to £71m.

UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid Qualifies For Knock-Out Stage

Real Madrid qualified from Group A of the UEFA Champions League after beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu. A first-half finish from substitute Nacho secured all three points and pushed Madrid into the knockout stages.
By contrast, PSG were left to rue a host of missed chances. They were easily the better side but couldn’t translate consistently creative, attacking football into goals.

TY Danjuma, Dangote, Al-Makura Bag Traditional Titles In Nasarawa

The Ohimegye Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, has conferred the traditional title of ‘Ohireku Opanda’ on Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, while Alhaji Aliko Dangote was conferred with ‘Dan Malikin Opanda’ in a colourful ceremony held at Umuaisha, Toto local government area of the state.
Abdullahi, a chief of first class status, conferred the traditional titles on eminent Nigerians as part of events marking his 20th anniversary on the throne.
Other awardees include Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura as ‘Wambai Opanda’, Sen.

PDP, APC Senators Clash Over N5,000 Allowance For Unemployed Youths

The Senate on Wednesday rejected motion for the payment of N5,000 monthly allowance to unemployed youths in the country.
The motion was sponsored by Senator Philip Aduda (PDP FCT) but was greeted with shouts of ‘’no, no’’ when he tried to expatiate on it.
Even, attempts by the Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, to second the motion were disrupted by the rowdiness created by the “no” shouting of some senators opposed to it.
Intervening, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, posed the question but the senators responded along party lines.

Buhari Scraps SURE-P

President Muhammadu Buhari has scrapped the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) and also ordered the Presidential Committee and workers of the agency to close shop. The President’s order was delivered to the SURE-P Committee through a letter from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
