PDP Lawmakers, Senator Oduah, Andy Uba Sacked By Supreme Court

The remaining two Anambra senators in the National Assembly have been sacked by the Supreme Court.

Senators Stella Oduah and Andy Uba, were on Friday, fired by the Supreme Court.

Uba represented Anambra south senatorial district, while Oduah represented Anambra north senatorial district.
All the senators from Anambra State, including Senator Uche Ekwunife, who emerged on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, have now been sacked.

The Supreme Court also ruled that Chris Ubah (Anambra South) and Annie Okonkwo (Anambra Central) are to replace them.

Olisa Metuh Regains Freedom… Released On Bail

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Olisa Metuh has been released on bail.
Mr Metuh walked out of Kuje Prisons on Thursday afternoon after meeting the bail conditions given to him by the court.
A Federal High Court had on Wednesday, varied the bail conditions given to Mr Olisa Metuh.
Justice Okon Abang, signed his release warrant, upon being satisfied with the verification of the details of the two sureties provided by the accused and the title documents of the property owned by the sureties.
The verification exercise was done by the Chief Registrar of the court with the involvement of the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, whom the judge directed must verify the residential addresses of the two sureties.

NYSC Bans Combination Of Law School, National Service

The National Youth Service Corps has said that henceforth, participation in the national service and attendance of Law School at the same time “would not be acceptable”.
A statement by the spokesperson of the NYSC, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, on Friday said this was part of the resolutions made at 2016 annual management conference of the organisation, which took place in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Participants also agreed that the policy on posting of the corps members to places of primary assignment would be reviewed to meet contemporary needs.
Aderibigbe said the conference stated that the NYSC Act provided for uninterrupted service year, and “advised prospective corps members to choose which one to defer between national service and Law School attendance instead of attempting to combine both.”

Eritrean Government Denies Viral Report About Mandating Men To Marry Multiple Wives

The Eritrean government has denied the viral report that it mandated its men to marry at least two wives or risk going to jail, calling it a ‘hoax’.
The story was first reported by an unnamed “Eritrean activist” who posted a scanned memo on Facebook purportedly from the Eritrean parliament ordering its male nationals to marry at least two wives or spend the rest of their lives in jail because there was a shortage of men.
The report didn’t gain much prominence until a Kenyan newspaper relayed it, driving social media nuts, with the country trending in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and far as Nigeria and Ghana.

Yahaya Bello Inaugurated As Kogi Governor In Lokoja

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governor elect in the Kogi State Supplementary election, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was today, Wednesday 27, 2016, sworn in as the duly elected governor of the state in Lokoja.
Bello who replaced late Prince Audu Abubarkar, who died few hours before the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), was sworn in around 12:26pm by the Kogi State Chief Judge, Nasiru Ajina.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony at the Lakoja Township stadium, APC national chairman Chief John Oyegun, said: “Governor-elect, I wish you the very best of luck. Our prayers are with you; our prayers are with the people of Kogi state. May God be with you, may God guide you. While giving his speech at the event, Alhaji Bello said: “I understand workers in Kogi have not been paid 4 months and over a year for local governments. We will soon start payment. My administration has zero tolerance for corruption and it remains so and I think Kogites should be guided in this direction”.

Remi Tinubu Rejects N4bn Allocation To Women Ministry

Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the  All Progressives Congress (APC) National leader, has rejected the allocation to Women Affairs Ministry in the 2016 budget.
While advocating that the allocation be increased, she said N4billion earmarked for the Ministry suggests that the APC has used and dumped Nigerian women.
She said: “if the allocation in the budget was not jerked up.
“The allocation to women in this budget is the least ever. Less than N4bn was allocated to women when capital projects alone are N3bn. This is not going to go down well. I think the women have been used and dumped after elections.
“This is not going to go down well with us at all and this is why I’m calling for the upward review of the allocation to women, otherwise we will incur the wrath of women”.

Fayose Pays Aregbesola A Visit, Vows Not To Leave PDP

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said he will never leave the Peoples Democratic Party for any other party despite the crisis within the PDP.
Fayose said this in Osogbo on Tuesday when he visited Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the Government House, Osogbo in company with about 50 dignitaries including the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Kola Oluwawole.
The governor said he read on the Internet that he was coming to Osogbo to beg Aregbesola to plead with President Muhammadu Buhari not to probe him.
He said, “I have not come here for that; neither have I come to announce my defection from the PDP. I will never leave the PDP for any party. This is my first official visit to any APC state in Nigeria. I am not in Osogbo to ask Aregbesola to help me beg (the President) as being speculated in some quarters. We are all Yoruba, politics is like water; it can flow anywhere.

Comedian’s Mother Passes Away



Mother of popular comedian Bovi Ugboma popularly known has Bovi has passed away.
Madam Magaret Ugboma died on Monday,January 25.
Her death was said to have come days after Bovi bought her a mansion.
She was aged 58. May her soul rest in peace.

Olubadan Of Ibadan Is Dead

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, is dead.
The monarch, who was 101 years old passed away Tuesday evening after he reportedly lost consciousness.
Other details about Oba Odulana’s death were sketchy as at press time.
His death will threw the city into mourning after brouhaha over promotion of nine high chiefs on January 1 which pitted the Olubadan-In-Council against the state government.

Celine Dion Loses Husband, Rene Angelil

Rene Angelil, husband to soul singer, Celine Dion is dead. He was aged 73.
He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998. His health got so bad last year that Celine took a leave of absence from her Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace.
Sources close to Celine say Rene’s death was completely unexpected because recently he’s felt much better. In fact, it was said that he and Celine had planned business meetings together for Thursday.
He and Celine have children, a 14-year-old and 5-year-old twins. He also has 3 other children from a previous marriage.
